George Boughey Stable

A fresh face who has achieved a great amount in such a short space of time, George Boughey is on the fast track to becoming a leading trainer in the area. Gaining his experience with trainers around the world such as the First Lady of Australian racing, Gai Waterhouse, George returned to Newmarket to run the operations of Hugo Palmer's secondary stables at Saffron House Stables on Hamilton Road. In July 2019, Boughey gained a training license of his own as well as full control of Saffron House to begin his journey to success. Preparing his team for a full assault at his first full season in 2020, the covid-19 pandemic struck and closed the sport for months, halting any progress. A first major success in 2020 was courtesy of Mystery Angel in the Jersey Lily Nursery Handicap at Newmarket's Cambridgeshire meeting and the association with leading syndicate Nick Bradley Racing would provide plenty of high level victories in 2021. Oscula would lead the way in the early stages of the season before Mystery Angel finished a memorable second in the Epsom Oaks. The likes of Hellomydarlin, Navello and Corazon would run to a high level consistently while Khatm and Pholas were multiple winners. 2022 has seen the stable grow from strength to strength and a first Classic win came on the nearby Rowley Mile when the very brave Cachet stuck her neck out to repel all comers and record an emotional win.  Oscula would prove to be a very tough and consistent filly, winning at the Glorious Goodwood Festival and a pair of Royal Ascot wins came courtesy of Inver Park and Missed The Cut. A special mention also to this year's prolific winners Simply Sondheim, Totally Charming and Spangled Mac and improving juvenile Believing, who finished a close runner up in the Group 3 Firth of Clyde Stakes at Ayr the previous day.
