Ben Haslam Stable Visit

Ben Haslam's Macho Pride in winning action at Haydock, July 2021.

Another dual purpose yard in Middleham, Ben Haslam has made his own story after taking over the license from his father Patrick in the late 2000's and has continued to bring success to the stable on the grounds of Middleham Castle. Haslam's dual purpose expertise have been well advertised in the past by the likes of former inmate Solo Saxophone and has an impressive squad for both flat and national hunt racing. Haslam is also strongly supported by leading jumps owner JP McManus, a partnership which often leads to horses transferred to Middleham from powerful stables when their form appears to dip as they age, in the hope that the Yorkshire air and scenery freshens them up. A prime example of this is Brelan d'As, third in a Grand Annual Chase at Cheltenham as a recently as 2019, moved from Paul Nicholls to Ben Haslam's yard where he found his feet by winning twice recently.
On the flat, Haslam has an equally talented string. The very useful pair of Sandret and Fortamour are classy handicappers on their day, rated in the low 90's, and Lightening Company is a progressive type owned by Middleham Park Racing. The stable have already hit the ground running with winners courtesy of Lightening Company and I Do Dream recently winning at 100-1 in a Pontefract maiden. With former high class horses over jumps and progressive types on the flat, there are plenty of familiar faces on the books of Ben Haslam.
