Julie Camacho Stable Tour, May 2022

A welcome return to Star Cottage in Malton where the team of Julie Camacho racing held a stable tour courtesy of Owners Group. A friendly and talented string of horses and staff, the stable are enjoying a real purple patch with high profile winners, popular horses and new imports. The leader of the pack is still the old warrior Judicial, who is still capable of high class form at the age of ten and provided the team with an emotional win at Chester in September 2021. Other star names to emerge in the past twelve months are Raatea, who is on the cusp of high class handicaps and pattern class races, Look Out Louis who has been a fantastic servant to the team since his arrival last year and recently won at Chester's May meeting on terrestrial TV and Owners Group representative Proclaimer, who landed a memorable five wins from seven starts in an extraordinary transformation during the winter.  Former stalwart Shepherds Way ran the best race of her career for the Camacho's when second at long odds in a listed race at Pontefract in September 2021 before retiring for breeding.
Long term support has been provided by the likes of Owners Group and David Armstrong, both of whom have seen plenty of success from the Camacho team. New import Ainsdale is a potential high class colt for Armstrong and has group race aspirations which could be achieved on slower ground. Titian has also recently arrived with some useful form to his name, having spent time with William Haggas and David Pipe. Expensive purchase Sacred Jewel arrived from last October's Horses In Training Sales at Newmarket having shown ability despite a wild temperament for Godolphin trainer Charlie Appleby. A move to a smaller yard has seen a big improvement in the horse as she won very impressively on her first start for Camacho at Leicester.
While some famous names have either hung up their shoes or are beginning to enter the twilight of their career, the influx of new talent will generate excitement for years to come. Already enjoying arguably their best season yet, there could be plenty of new stars to live up to the Star Cottage moniker.
