York Races, July 2026
One of the biggest highlights of the summer period in the racing calendar would finally come back around. Commonly referred to as "Super Saturday", top class racing takes place at York, Chester and Ascot, while the prestigious July Festival at Newmarket comes to a close. The second Saturday of July is often a relentless, fast moving day of brilliant racing and York's John Smith's Cup would play a big role. The historic handicap over a mile and a quarter is a race revered by many and it remains a prize most trainers want to win.
This two day meeting would open up with a Group Three contest for fillies and mares over the flying six furlongs as lower grade, competitive handicaps would join the supporting act. Saturday would be a day of quality. The feature John Smith's Cup would headline the afternoon while pattern races at either end of the distance spectrum would heighten the action.
As the eyes of the racing world darted from course to course, it would be down to York to provide a memorable day of sport.
