Rae Guest Stable

One of the longest residents in Newmarket and one of the most experienced, Rae Guest is a much respected member of the Newmarket community. With a family that is horse racing through and through, he has tasted highest level success in his own right. Based at Chestnut Tree Stables, whose former residents include Sir Henry Cecil, since 1998 Guest has renovated and modernised the facilities to keep with the times. Sharing land with fellow trainer Jack Jones, the stables are in an esteemed part of Newmarket on the Hamilton Road area.
Guest's first taste of the racing life came when he was an apprentice jockey for the incomparable Sir Gordon Richards where he received his first few rides before relocating to Sweden. He would stay riding in Europe for a while before moving back to England in 1979 to work alongside Luca Cumani before eventually taking a trainer's license out in 1988. He received plaudits for the handling of star filly My Emma, a fragile but very talented type. She would race only eight times in her life, but provided Guest with his first Group One in the Prix Vermeille in 1996 at odds of 28-1. A long spell between big race victories would ensue, but he was always capable of training horses to finish in the placings of Group Ones consistently. A return to the big league would come in 2008 with star juvenile Serious Attitude. Cheaply bought and by a sire not known for top class progeny, Serious Attitude would remain unbeaten as a two year old, culminating in a win in the Cheveley Park Stakes. Despite not staying the extra distance in the 1,000 Guineas the following season, Serious Attitude would go on to win the Summer Stakes at York and then further afield in the Canadian Group One the Neartic Stakes. A proud moment for all involved as the filly would sell for $1.85million at the sales.
The current crop of stars in the stable include Jewel In My Crown; a filly who has been highly tried recently after impressing in handicaps, Fauvette; a mare who has held her own in listed company and the promising Mizzen You who has yet to finish lower than third in four career starts.
