York Races, October 2025

No sooner as it had started back in May, the end of York's 2025 season was soon upon us as the curtain came down with this October double header.

There would be a blend of speed and stamina for horses of all ages. Friday would provide a look to the future with a lucrative sales race for juveniles over seven furlongs. Connections of the runners would be looking for one last big pay day on the Knavesmire. Friday would also see a pair of class two handicaps, the first would take place over a mile and saw a host of well known faces back at York. The second of them would have a new look to it. Formerly racing over a mile and three quarters, a three-year-old only contest would now take place over ten furlongs and attracted a good field of young talent.

Saturday would be a display of speed and precocity with the valuable Coral Sprint Trophy taking its place as the feature event. The six furlong cavalry charge attracted the usual suspects in the division. Remaining over six furlongs, the listed Rockingham Stakes would take place for the juveniles. A certain few former winners of this race have gone on to perform at the highest level.
