Doncaster Races,  23rd October 2026

Race One: The William Hill Extra Places Every Day Nursery Handicap - Class Three - 2-y-o Only - Six Furlongs - Runners:
The opening bout would kick off this meeting's theme of looking ahead to the future. This nursery handicap would involve juvenile runners who haven't developed as hoped for compared to the start of the season and now hold no secrets from the handicapper. Last year, this contest would go the way of Rising Power, who remained unbeaten at the time in the silks of Godolphin for the Charlie Appleby yard. It remains the latest sighting of the gelding, who is still a good prospect.
Heading the weights for the opener would be Big Cigar from the Richard and Peter Fahey stable. The son of Havana Gold showed smart form during the summer by winning twice, including at this level at York in July. Since then, he struggled in Group company and now deservedly drops back into handicap company. Firehorse followed a similar season to Big Cigar as he won on debut before taking on tougher company. Despite this, Sean Woods's newly gelded runner had the potential to be too classy for his rivals here. An improving sort in the field would be Captaincy from the Clive Cox stable. This year has been another good one for juveniles from the Cox yard and their representative here won nicely on handicap debut at Pontefract last time out and arrived here in search of a hat trick. The Amo Racing operation have enjoyed a steady stream of success in the juvenile division and looked to take this prize with Napa. The colt looked promising in the early stages of this season, but his limitations were exposed in better company after a short summer break. A second runner for the big spending outfit would be the filly Glamorize. She would improve after an outing at Royal Ascot by winning twice this summer before returning to form on her latest start at Newmarket a month ago. William Haggas often enjoys plenty of success towards the end of each season and would saddle Bulletsnap here. The son of Minzaal had shown good form in previous starts before dominating his way to success at Ripon for the first time and remained open to improvement in this company. Ed Bethell's Rogue Jewel made a perfect start to her career by winning her first two starts and taking second in a listed race. She took on Group company once again last time, but that proved harder than what she can expect here. Sovereign Glory has amassed plenty of experience in this sort of race during the season and Charlie Hills's gelding looked to put his experience to good use. He looked unlucky close home in a big sales race here last month. Another runner from the Amo Racing setup would be Henley On Thames for trainer Kevin Philippart de Foy. The chestnut had improved with each start and landed a valuabe contest at the Ebor Festival at York in August. He posted a good effort in defeat over this course and distance last month. Tim Easterby is a trainer who is often well represented in these races and he would saddle Mind Those Steps in this particular contest. He holds a solitary win to his name, but ran above expectations in listed company at Redcar last time out. The Amo Racing operation would be well represented as Karl Burke's filly Lady Blanche was next to carry the purple silks in this contest. She looked quick and promising after winning on her second start, but was outclassed in listed company when last seen in May. James Owen has made his name as a shrewd operator in recent years and he would send up the filly Envision from Newmarket. She would win at the second time of asking before competiting at a higher level during the summer, but hasn't returned to form since switching to handicaps of late. Another to make the journey North would be Call Me Tomorrow from the Richard Hannon stable. She would be another to put her experience to good use by delivering in a winnable contest at Beverley and now enters handicaps for the first time here. She would be joined by her stablemate Urumita, who also won last time out. The daughter of Mehmas improved with each start before winning at the fourth attempt at Bath. She would also be relatively unexposed in this company. One of the busiest juvenile in the contest has been Furturra from the Tim Easterby yard. The chestnut had run fifteen times since his debut in Apri, but held his form well with a pair of wins. He showed signs of fatigue last time out at York however in a similar contest over the minimum trip. Yorkshire trainer Kevin Ryan would also be represented with a runner here, in the form of Flower Youmzain. She would be another to hone her skills in maiden company where she placed twice, but made a successful start in handicaps at Redcar last time out so could progress further. Completing the field would be another Tim Easterby-trained regular at this level, the filly Lake Muritz. She had seemingly gone off the boil after a promising win earlier in the season, but ran a much better race at York recently.

Race Two: The William Hill Epic Boosts Handicap - Class Two - Six Fullongs - Runners:
The action would remain at the six furlong starting point, but this would be the first of two consecutive valuable and competitive contests. A whole host of high class handicap sprinters would take to the stage for this six furlong event, seeking an end-of-the-season victory here with some potentially suited better here with their preferred softer ground. Last season, this race went the way of the grey Fine Interview, who showed a liking to Doncaster by winning again at the season opening meeting in March for trainer Hamad al Jehani.
The classy Aramram would revert to handicap company once again but would carry top weight. Richard Hannon's five year old looked set for the big league after winning a listed race here back in March, but has struggled for form in high end handicaps and Group races this summer. Mick Appleby landed a big handicap sprint at York recently and his runner Al Shabab Storm continued his revival that day when third. The five year old has returned to his best this season and after winning at Newcastle, he finished third in the Portland here in September to show his quality. There would be a returning face to British shores as the three year old Dandy Style made his debut for the Ian Williams stable. He was successful twice for a different stable last year before moving to France where he won his latest start. This looked to be a difficult welcome back for the newly gelded runner. Flash Harry had always shown a liking for slower ground, as shown when winning at Goodwood two starts ago. Clive Cox's four year old then ran an excellent race when third in the Ayr Gold Cup recently. Representing last year's winning connections of Hamad al Jehani and Wathnan Racing would be Deep Havana. The grey swapped Britain for Qatar last year and ran well there, but has enjoyed his time back in Britain, He won at Goodwood and Thirsk this summer and might not be finished with just yet. Another perennial mudlark would be Ralph Beckett's Zoum Zoum. The five year old won this race in 2024 and looked to regain his crown here. He has also finished placed in listed company, so this would be his time of the year. Another past winner lined up in a clash of champions in this race. Fine Interview proved his effectiveness on this ground by winning over course and distance in March and then took fourth in the Ayr Gold Cup, but his form elsewhere hadn't been as strong which suggested the handicapper had him under control. Another old favourite in these contests would be Dark Thirty. The John and Sean Quinn-trianed veteran went close in a couple of strong handicaps in Ireland over the summer, but was drawn on the wrong side at York last time out. James Owen is equally talented at training sprinters and stayers and would be represented here by Goldmoyne. The likeable six year old hadn't been far away in most of his starts this season and landed another win by the narrowest of margins at Ascot at the start of the month.

Race Three: The William Hill Best Odds Guaranteed Handicap - Class Two - Seven Furlongs - Runners:
The action would move higher up the home straight as this seven furlong event would come next. Just like in the previous sprint handicap, there would be some tough and popular characters in the line up, looking for one last taste of glory on turf before the season ends in a few weeks. Twelve months ago, there was a notable winner as Rogue Diplomat scored in thrilling style. He would then go on to win this year's Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot and then finish second in Group company.
This year's contenders would hope to follow the path of last year's winner and the weights were headed by the classy Aramram.

Race Four: The Sky Sports Racing Virgin 512 EBF Maiden Fillies' Stakes - Class Two - 2-y-o Only - Seven Furlongs - Runners:
The first of two highly informative maiden contests would take place over the straight mile course of Town Moor. This time of the year is seen as a hot spot for future talent as leading stables take the covers off their better prospects. Previous winners of this contest included the future Epsom Oaks winner Soul Sister in 2022 from the Gosden stable. Twelve months ago, William Haggas would unearth Lilt, who made a winning debut in this contest before winning at listed level seven months later and recently placing in Group One company.
Heading this fascinating line up would be the first of the newcomers, Alta Superiore from the Ed de Giles stable. The daughter of Territories is related to some useful stayers, so might be one for future reference with a trainer who doesn't train many debut winners. There would be plenty of exciting pedigress on show here, the first of them would be with Blistering from the Ollie Sangster yard. She is related to a top class French Group One winner and his trainer is capable of introducing winning newcomers. The Jack Channon stable have enjoyed plenty of success with the family of Dalanijulo Clan in the past and they would hope that the latest offspring continues to uphold the family name. She is a half sister to a smart sprinter, so held decent claims ahead of her debut. Godolphin have enjoyed a brilliant year with their two year olds this year and would continue to look forward with Desert Romance. The daughter of Dubawi is also related to a top class horse and made her debut at Newmarket recently, racing keenly and fading into third but learning plenty in the process. Last year's winning trainer William Haggas would link up with high profile owners Ace Stud with the newcomer Fear No Evil. The daughter of Frankel is another well bred sort and her trainer has been in good form recently. One of the more experienced runners here would be Floral from the Andrew Balding stable.
