Craig Lidster Racing Club

North Yorkshire is on the verge of having yet another leading trainer in the area as the rapid progression of trainer Craig Lidster continues to catch the eye of many in the sport. With state of the art facilities, a dedicated team as backup and potentially smart youngsters rising through the ranks, these are exciting times for the Eboracum Racing team.

Craig himself is a product of Richard Fahey's academy. Working at Musley Bank as travelling head lad, he also spent a lot of time breaking in yearlings before they dived in to the day to day routine of training. This experience has paid dividends as Craig's knowledge and understanding of yearlings and juveniles have seen plenty of success with the youngsters. 2024 will be Craig's third full year as a trainer and the winners have kept flowing through. Significant highlights include a one-two with his only runners at Newmarket in September 2022, summer festival runners at places like York, Goodwood and Royal Ascot and a highest tally of winners in 2023 with 26 winners. He can also call on the support of leading syndicate Nick Bradley Racing with juveniles and Paul Hanagan, the former champion flat jockey. Since retiring from the saddle in 2023, Hanagan has quickly made an impact with his insights and is a key member of the team.

The Racing Club:

In late 2022, the self named racing club was born. Following the mould of other racing clubs, members can receive the benefit of visiting the stable, suggesting names for juveniles and days out at the races to gain the full ownership experience. Smile And Pay would be the first runner for the group at Wolverhampton in the winter of 2022, but members have enjoyed a fun and successful first full season. Ending 2023 with a respectable tally of four winners and eleven placings, three of the five horses in the club were successful; ranging from milers to sprinters. Despite the highs, the club would suffer the ultimate low with the tragic loss of Divine Connection, who was also the first winner sent out from the new training complex.
2024 will see three horses in training, but with the amount of youthful talent coming through the doors, it wouldn't be surprising to see plenty more carry the royal blue and white silks of the club.

Meet The Horses:

NOTEABLESire: Profitable - Dam: Jenny Lind - Born: 2019
Races: 14 - Wins: 1 - Placings: 2 (Since joining current trainer)

Since swapping the north-west for the north-east, Noteable has gradually found her feet at the yard and a first career success would come in the silks of the racing club.

Originally trained by Tom Dascombe and then Hugo Palmer at the Michael Owen-owned stables of Malpas House near Chester, Noteable is a daughter of high class sprinter Profitable who won the Kings' Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot. She is also a half sister to Fleet Street, a group three winner in Japan. In the opening stages of her career, Noteable showed flashes of promise on the track. A close second at Chester as a two year old and then third at Doncaster on her seasonal debut in 2022. A mid-season switch took place following the July Horses In Training sales at Newmarket which saw Noteable move to North Yorkshire with Craig Lidster. The signs of ability continued to be shown, but the elusive first victory was still out of reach. Towards the backend of 2023, Noteable began to string some good displays together. Finishing second at Thirsk and Southwell before finally, the first victory landed. Ridden as usual by stable apprentice Will Pyle, Noteable travelled well and pulled clear of her rivals to cross the line alone and shake away her curse. It would be an enjoyable moment for the team, but she was unable to replicate that form in her final three starts of the year. Seemingly a six furlong specialist, there are plenty of opportunities for Noteable at a lowly level and she will continue to run with honour for the racing club.

POLLY THE ROCKET Sire: Profitable - Dam: Surava - Born: 2021
Races: 9 - Wins: 1 - Placings: 4.

A good looking filly, Polly The Rocket has shown ability on more than one occasion and will deserve a first success when it comes.
A daughter of Profitable, just like Noteable, Polly The Rocket is a half sister to eight time winning handicapper Danzart. Further back in the family, she is a distant relative of Shishangaan, the dam of the popular and very classy Safe Voyage. "Polly" would make her debut at Pontefract in mid July where she belied her market expectations by finishing third behind Ziggy's Condor. The winner of that novice race then went on to finish second in a valuable sales race at York during the Ebor Festival. A week after her promising debut, Polly The Rocket was back in action and gave her members a big night out at York's evening meeting. Running in a competitive race, she would face the likes of Loose Cannon who won the race before finishing third in the Group Three Acomb Stakes and Apiarist, winner of a £100,000 Sales race back at York. She ran respectably by finishing sixth of twelve and since then, the filly has hit the crossbar three more times. Finishing in the bronze medal placing at Newcastle and Wolverhampton, she then disappointed just before New Year's Eve when unsuited by the step up to a mile.
2024 was all about one goal, to find that elusive first win and Polly achieved that New Year's Resolution at the first attempt. Racing at Newcastle a few days after the turn of the year, market expectations showed the filly to have little chance on the night. However, as the saying goes, horses don't know their odds and the three year old came with a good run on the outside to get her nose in front on the line for the first time. It would be a deserved success for a likable sort following a few near misses in 2023.

EAST BANK - Sire: Aclaim - Dam: Twist Of Magic - Born: 2021
Races: 5 - Wins: 1 - Placings: 0.

Hopes will be high for an uninterrupted year in 2024 for East Bank, who has shown ability and can win more when the conditions are right.
A son of Aclaim, who got better with age and landed the Group One Prix de la Foret, East Bank is a half brother to Anatoli, a modest handicapper in Ireland who won on debut. The bay then copied the feat of his relative by making a perfect start to life at Beverley in April. Ridden by Paul Hanagan, East Bank showed signs of inexperience at a course which is notoriously tricky even for the most experienced horse. Once the penny dropped, East Bank showed a smart turn of foot and got up close home to make a winning debut. It would be a smart run with the Brocklesby Stakes third placed Charged Up and the smart yardstick Indication Call both behind him. A couple of weeks later, East Bank was sent up to Musselburgh for a small field novice race which looked a strong contest. It featured subsequent listed race winner and Windsor Castle Stakes sixth placed Myconian and Love Billy Boy, twice placed at class two level. East Bank would run below par and the run would baffle connections. A long break was required and he would return to action almost five months later, this time at Wolverhampton. Stepping up to six furlongs, East Bank weakened quickly and was tailed off. A gelding operation was called for and he made just his fourth career start at Newcastle at the end of the year. Running over six furlongs once again, East Bank showed up well to the final furlong pole and weakened away. It is hoped that connections can have a good spell with the talented horse and find a second win for him sooner rather than later.
