Nick Bradley Racing colours in action at York, July 2020.

Never be scared to follow your dreams, that can be taken with inspiration from Nick Bradley's rise from a horse racing supporter to being responsible for one of the leading racing syndicates in the country in such little time. A former teacher, Bradley first got involved in racehorse ownership with Middleham Park Racing for whom he became a buyer at the sales. He would pick up Junior at the Goffs May Sales in 2010, a one time smart novice hurdler in his day, Junior was moved to David Pipe's stables and it was there where he would make his name. On his first start for new connections, Junior would make every yard of the running and win effortlessly. It wasn't just a run of the mill contest Junior won, it was the prestigious Ascot Stakes Handicap on the first day of the Royal Ascot meeting in 2010. It was an immediate pay back for the £35,000 purchase and the dream would continue as Junior won at the Cheltenham Festival less than a year on and would even compete in a Grand National during his career.
Inspired by the success with Middleham Park, Nick Bradley took the next step and created his own self named syndicate in 2015 where the success has risen rapidly and steeply. One of the first horses Bradley purchased, Commissioned, provided him with a first outright winner at Royal Ascot in the closing Queen Alexandra Stakes and the popular Raising Sand has been a standing dish at Ascot, regularly featuring in valuable handicaps over seven furlongs and a mile, winning four times from twenty-two starts at the Berkshire course.
In recent years though, the focus has shifted to horses for the future. An ever growing list of impressive racehorses to carry the white and black silks in the past few years can inflict envy on others. The likes of Fev Rover, third in the 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket; Oscula, winner at Epsom at the Derby meeting; Dandalla, who provided members with a lot of cheer during lockdown by winning three of her four starts throughout 2020 including at the Royal Ascot and Newmarket July Festivals and lastly Mystery Angel, who was second in an Epsom Oaks.
Nick uses his expert eye to scout out a potential superstar of tomorrow, even dipping into the French yearling sales to take advantage of prize money initiatives on the continent. He also provides strong support to high profile trainers such as Karl Burke, Andrew Balding and Roger Fell, as well as seeing the potential in young up and coming trainers who are ready to make an impact. Such examples have been seen with Craig Lidster, Harry Eustace and Alice Haynes, but new partnerships with Jack Jones, Ollie Sangster and Gemma Tutty show the faith placed in them by this leading syndicate.
2023 was yet another profitable season for the East Yorkshire-based outfit with plenty of runners and plenty of winners. 2022 saw a new highest tally of wins scored with 48, but that total would be surpassed last year with a new record of 57 wins in the calendar year. It would also be a second successive season in which the syndicate moved past the £1,000,000 in prize money won with a healthy 34% strike rate of runners to winners. 2023 began in a promising way as Marshman landed the French Group Three Prix Sigy on his seasonal debut before running with credit back in Britain. 2022's Group One runner up Al Qareem made a belated return to action in September 2023 and was very brave to land a listed race at Chester. He would then follow up in the Cumberland Lodge Stakes at Ascot and rate as a leading staying prospect in 2024. Elsewhere, Sophia's Starlight enjoyed a winning roll during the summer with six wins including the historic Great St Wilfred handicap at Ripon. Promising youngsters Really Darn Hot and Air Force Indi made explosive winning debuts and should have plenty more to offer this year.
