Richard Fahey Ebor Racing Club

The name Richard Fahey is one that is widely known and respected in the world of horse racing since arriving in Britain from Ireland in the 1980's, initially as a jockey for legendary names like Jimmy Fizgerald and Peter Easterby. Hanging up his saddle in 1991, Fahey turned his hand to training and it was here where Fahey's legacy began. Upping sticks and moving to a complex on Musley Bank in 2006, the team haven't looked back as to this day, Richard Fahey has trained thirty group winners in Britain, Ireland and Europe, numerous Royal Ascot winners and regularly hits the two hundred winners mark every year.

Famous names to have graced the Musley Bank gallops and stables of the past include Ribchester, who was owned by Godolphin, Mayson, winner of the July Cup, Gabrial and popular handicappers such as Mr Lupton and Fonthill Road amongst a whole host of well known horses.

The Ebor Racing Club was set up by Richard Fahey in 2014 and began with just three horses and now in 2023, the club is represented by a healthy number fifteen horses  who are ready to race. The club benefits from other owners in the Fahey yard lending their horses to run for under the Ebor Racing Club which sees a regularly revolving door of equine talent.
The flag bearer and most loved of the Ebor Racing Club over the years has been Crownthorpe, who was  a representative of the racing club since he was a two year old. His career highlight came at York in October 2019 where he gave members the thrill of a local win on his favoured soft ground. He ran with credit in valuable class three and class two races on a consistent basis and showed a liking for York and the all-weather track at Newcastle. Winner of over £120,000 in prize money, he holds his place in the ERC folklore, a horse any syndicate would be proud to own.
The current crop of horses in the black and orange silks all have the aspiration of taking the now departed Crownthorpe and taking the club to the next level. The two year old colt Airman was highly regarded at the start of the season with some high profile race entries and proved himself worthy of the bold quotes with an impressive win on debut at Beverley. Similarly, fellow juvenile Showhound has also showed ability by winning on his second start and narrowly being denied on his next start.

The racing club is run smoothly by Dave Anning and Nick Brown who provide regular updates, owners badges and the opportunity of visiting the horses at Musley Bank. Ebor Racing Club members are highly friendly and passionate
